In a rare rebuke, the Supreme Court refused to give a rubber stamp to Donald Trump’s shameless attempt to rig the upcoming elections by altering how the Post Office handles mail-in ballots. Trump, of course, responded like a totally normal, sober President.
As expected, two Justices, however, decided to make it known they dissented from the majority. Want to guess their names? Why, it was Alito and Thomas, of course, whose respective spouses also supported the January 6th insurrection. These two right-wing extremists who claim to be “originalists” were perfectly fine ending birthright citizenship, even though it’s clearly granted through the 14th Amendment, and voted with the conservative majority to give Trump expansive powers and a "get out of jail” card.
In particular, these two judges are making it clear they give 0 F’s about the rule of law, the separation of powers, the Constitution, or the will of the people. Their job is to ensure MAGA Christian rule by any illegal and unsavory means necessary. The other three conservatives are also fellow ideological travelers, groomed since college to undo the progress of the post-Civil Rights movement. After all, Justice Roberts yearned for decades to dismantle the Voting Rights Act for decades, and he was finally able to accomplish his childhood dream.
