This week, we’ve been covering everything the regime and its enablers could use the Comstock Act of 1873, a zombie obscenity law, to outlaw and criminalize whatever offends White Christian Nationalists. Most journalists are concerned about the regime’s pledge to use this law to prohibit the mailing of abortion medication after the midterms, but Comstock applies to so much more.
Yesterday, we covered its potential to criminalize obscenity (which encompasses pornography but could be anything that makes a WCN man think about sex) and sexual implements like sex toys.
Today, let’s talk about contraception.
No one could mail literature about contraceptives, share instructions for use, make recommendations, or include any other mention of contraceptives by mail. (This stance is mirrored in several state attacks on speech, literature, and advertising about abortion today.)
When oral contraceptives became available in the early 1960s, this zombie law could have restricted their shipment and widespread adoption. In 1965, the US Supreme Court granted married women the right to contraception in Griswold v Connecticut, causing Congress to repeal the Comstock Act’s contraceptive restrictions in 1971.
In 1972, the Supreme Court extended the right to contraceptive access to single women in Eisenstadt v Baird.
And everyone sighs in relief. Nobody can Comstock our contraceptives. Andra Watkins is being hysterical and imagining ludicrous scenarios to give us heart attacks, and we’re just going to ignore her. This is all settled law, and taking away our contraception can’t happen here.
Humor me. Because I cannot look at everything this crowd is doing to demonize and attack contraception and think they have any other goal than to greatly restrict access or ban it.
Comstock is still one way to do it.
In the piece, we covered Christian Nationalist religious extremist Roberts Court justice Clarence Thomas’s opinion in Dobbs, which overturned Roe v Wade. He targeted three prior rulings for reconsideration:
Griswold v Connecticut**- which gave married couples the right to use contraception**Lawrence v Texas- which gave same-sex couples the right to sexual intimacyObergefell v Hodges- which gave same-sex couples the right to marry
I think this endangers access to ALL contraception, including the oral birth control pill and condoms, because:
Only sixteen states and the District of Columbia fully protect contraceptive access. Eighteen states currently send mixed messages about contraceptive access, and sixteen other states restrict access to contraceptives. (SOURCE:
PRB Scorecard)Congressional Republicans have refused to enact nationwide contraceptive protections three times this decade: In 2022 when
195 House Republicans refused to advance the Right to Contraception Act, whichSenate Republicans then killed in 2022, 2023, and 2024.Last month, the regime announced an EPA study to analyze wastewater for levels of abortion medication, hormonal birth control pills, and hormones prescribed for gender-affirming care. (SOURCE:
Uniting Now) Anti-abortion groups are arguing that these medications are pollutants that are destroying the environment in a cynical move to attract younger, environmentally-conscious people to their cause. Does anyone think a White Christian Nationalist regime is going to find low levels of these drugs in wastewater? Or fail to regulate them based on these “findings?”On 12 September 2025, I wrote the newsletter
Earlier this year, the Heritage Foundation publishedFor Christian Nationalists: Contraception = Sexual Immorality.Saving America by Saving the Family, where it demonized contraception, and the hormonal birth control pill specifically, in at least six separate entries. Project 2025 recommended only ONE birth control method: Fertility Awareness-Based Methods - also known as the Catholic temperature, mucous, and calendar methods of ovulation tracking. In all places, they make it clear that access to the pill leads to premarital sex and promiscuity, more options for women to delay childbirth, and the ability for women to have sex without “consequences.”Attacks on hormonal birth control have penetrated every quarter of the right-wing echo chamber. From MAHA to trad wives to Turning Point USA rallies to female WCN “influencers” who decry female higher education, later marriage, and birth control (while taking 5-to-6 figure fees to sell this garbage to young women), contraception is under an aggressive negative attack from the right.
The regime used the Big Ugly Bill to cut Title X funding, which decimated access to contraception via Planned Parenthood and Medicaid, as well as revoking healthcare access for millions of ACA participants who could no longer afford prescriptions like the pill. (SOURCE:

In my 15 April 2024 newsletter Sex and the Christian Nationalist, I outlined why WCNs think they have a right to regulate what we do in private: Because their vengeful, angry Old Testament God judges an entire nation for just one instance of fornication.
Pre-marital sex, even if the parties go on to marry
Sexual activities other than penetration; to Christian Nationalists, two teens sharing their first kiss constitutes sexual immorality
Masturbation, because using one’s own body for pleasure displeases God
All homosexual and transgender sex
Sex with another person’s spouse, including a consensual open marriage
Orgies (or group sex), but this definition would also apply to “throuples”
Engaging in activities that might make a person think about sex and thus lead to fornication (like erotic films or books, provocative artworks, a glimpse of skin on a female body, and more)
Easy access to hormonal birth control pills made it so much easier for women to fornicate with helpless men who cannot resist temptation. The standard White Christian Nationalist response is always to blame and punish women by taking away their contraception at the same time they’re jacking up soldiers on High-T and providing unlimited little blue pills.
Especially if the Roberts Court reconsiders Griswold. While no case is currently on the docket, creative Republican attorneys general are bringing new cases that attack established legal precedent every day. And the Roberts Court is rewarding them by reshaping our rule of law in a White Christian Nationalist image.
Access to hormonal birth control is on the midterm ballot, Americans. A Comstock-like ban is possible if Republicans retain state houses and Congress. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Please share this newsletter with persuadable voters, especially if they are females of reproductive age.
