An overwhelming majority of Democrats want their elected officials to stop sending our money and weapons to Israel, subsidizing the country’s occupation and genocide of Palestinians. A majority of Independent voters and young Republicans now join them in their outrage and demand a reset of America’s “unconditional” relationship with a tiny, dysfunctional country in the Middle East.
Recently, Tim Walz acknowledged that the Democratic Party’s failure to pivot from the Biden Administration’s Gaza policy was a major factor in losing trust with voters. Instead, Kamala Harris and her advisors sought the non-existent Wyoming Republican base. Multiple polls and the Democratic audit of the 2024 election affirm his conclusion - as does common sense.
Still, Democratic leaders, Presidential hopefuls, and corporate donors refuse to budge. They will not call Israel’s war crimes a genocide even though they have cover from Amnesty and the UN. They continue to accept money from AIPAC even though it’s funded by many right-wing pro-Trump billionaires. They are more comfortable with pro-Israel hawks than popular progressives in their own party, such as Abdul El-Sayed and Mamdani.
Worse, the architects of this policy have all failed up within the Democratic bubble. Individuals like Jake Sullivan, Antony Blinken, and Brett McGurk, who all assisted Israel’s war crimes along with President Joe Biden, are trying to rewrite history and absolve themselves of any blame. Shamelessly, McGurk released a book last week about how he allegedly helped to release Israeli hostages a few weeks after Haaretz reported that Hamas offered to unconditionally release all civilian hostages after October 7th.
Journalist Akbar Shahid Ahmed knows the true story. In his book, Crossing the Red Line, he spent over a year interviewing people within the Biden Administration, outlining how America engaged in an international cover-up of Israel’s war crimes.
