Hi all.
Kam here, MC360 Health Coach.
Sharing my story isn’t easy for me. I tend to be a private person. I share it because other people’s generosity in sharing their stories was how I found my way forward, and it gave me hope.
What I learned on my journey is this...
While there isn’t just one way to heal with MCAS, when you’ve lost so much tolerance to the world around you, that sensitivity is the gate everything else must pass through first. And calming your mast cells is where it all starts.
I remember walking around my backyard one morning when I was at my worst. It was really no more than a shuffle around the patio. I didn’t have energy for anything else. Even getting out of bed and being upright was a challenge most days. I had been unable to eat a single food for weeks, was surviving on about a cup of peptides a day, had lost 1/3 of my body weight, was facing a feeding tube, and watching my life slip away.
**No doctor had answers, not even the ones I’d seen at prestigious hospitals. **
Some sincerely tried to help.
Some suggested it was in my head or somehow my fault.
Most had never heard of MCAS. And the few who had (and tested me for it) were, I’d later learn, following a diagnostic framework that misses MCAS far too often. And when the tests came back negative, as they often do, they told me it wasn’t MCAS. But they didn’t have any other answers. And it made me doubt myself.
**I was on my own for a lot of it. **
I started reading everything I could find on MCAS, including the information from Mast Cell 360. And I knew approaching what I was experiencing through that lens was the only thing that had helped.
**That morning, I decided to trust myself. I bet on the fact that I knew my body better than anybody else. **I knew food made me feel worse (when I had been able to eat) and antihistamines were the only thing that moved the needle at all. Even though it wasn’t much since the flare I was in was so severe and the fillers in most of them were their own problem (something I would soon learn).
I went inside and started calling pharmacies, to get my prescription for ketotifen compounded into distilled water. I had tried before and just met dead ends. Ketotifen is an antihistamine and mast cell stabilizer I had researched and asked for (three times), and distilled water was the only thing I knew I wasn’t reacting to. Pharmacy after pharmacy said no. Then, my last call... the sweetest woman answered, and said yes.
I got off the phone and cried. For the weight I’d been carrying. For the uncertainty of it all. **But mostly because one doctor’s and one pharmacist’s willingness to help me try something as simple as an antihistamine gave me hope. **
A few days later, I ate my first bites of food in weeks. And symptoms I’d been living with for over a year started easing up... like the constant burning skin. It felt like a miracle after everything else I had tried. For others that little bit of magic might be quercetin or cromolyn or whatever fits YOU best. But those bits of magic bring some relief and a lot of hope when you find them.
It also told me I was on the right track. And from there, one step at a time, things started to shift and get better, and better.
**Knowing what I know now, I think of how much simpler that all could have been. **
I’ll be the first to tell you that healing isn’t usually fast or easy or even a straight line. But I believe that even when we are told something isn’t possible, with the right support and some determination, it often is. I’ve experienced it myself. Sometimes the people telling us otherwise simply don’t know any better.
**Practitioners who truly understand sensitivity are rare. **Many start with too much or go too fast, use things that are mast cell triggers themselves, jump ahead in the process, or don’t know how to help you troubleshoot when something goes wrong. Knowing some of the basics can help you calm down those mast cells and become a better advocate, too.
I know you’ve probably tried a lot with little to no luck. Some of it may have even made you feel worse.
MCAS is complex in itself and rarely comes without other conditions. Unwinding it all takes time. But calming mast cells truly is the first step to making progress when you are sensitive.
And all of that is why I want to personally invite you to join me and Jamie for the Autumn MCAS Reset.
This bundle provides the basics of starting to calm your mast cells and building your toolkit for healing with information we all wish we had at the start of our journeys.
You get 2 online courses you can take at your own pace and revisit anytime + 2 live group coaching sessions with Q&As: one on nervous system support and one on supplement strategies.
Our work is a labor of heart. All of this comes from our team’s collective experience, research, working with hundreds of clients, and our own journeys with MCAS. It was created for sensitive people, by sensitive people because it is the information that changed our stories and thousands of others since.
While no two cases are alike, understanding the framework of healing — how to get started, how to work with your body, how things are interconnected — makes a real difference. The basics will help, no matter what your own bits of magic turn out to be on the journey.
We hope you’ll join us. We’ve seen this information help so many people, including ourselves. And nobody should have to do this alone.
I know enrollment was supposed to close last night, but a few reached out and said they missed it. And we feel strongly that anyone who wants to come join us should have the chance. So, we are keeping it open a little longer.
Together in healing, **The Mast Cell 360 Team **
We’re grateful for this community, whether you’re free or paid.
