A large new study found that **fecal microbiota transplantation, or FMT, did not improve IBS. **
So that’s a real bummer.
Researchers followed 450 people with IBS for 12 months. One group received stool from healthy donors. The control group received their own stool as placebo.
There was no difference between the two groups for IBS symptoms, including abdominal pain, diarrhea, and constipation.
The takeaway? FMT should not be recommended for IBS based on current evidence and research.
But you are not alone.
