A large new genetics study identified new genetic variants and high-risk genes for Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
Researchers scanned the DNA of 80,000+ people with IBS and compared it to about one million people without IBS.
The mapped genes related to functions like circadian rhythm control, intestinal permeability, and motility.
The study found a **stronger genetic link to IBS **than previously understood.
IBS is the most common digestive disorder worldwide, affecting about 10–15% of all adults. So research like this is pretty desperately needed.
