A new study presented at Digestive Disease Week found that people who eat late at night and have high stress levels are much more likely to deal with constipation or diarrhea.
They also have a lower gut microbiome diversity.
In fact, nearly 40% of all the study participants with both high stress and late-night eating habits had abnormal bowel function.
Researchers also found this combination was linked to lower gut microbiome diversity - and that is tied to IBS.
The takeaway here? It’s not just what you eat, and how you eat, but WHEN you eat (plus those stress levels) that matter to your gut.
