Morning all. With three weeks to go it’s becoming clear now that the Rs are making their Senate stand in Alaska, Iowa, and Ohio. It doesn’t mean that they aren’t playing elsewhere but this is where they believe they can keep their majority. It’s why you will see a new emphasis on raising money for those states in our daily recommendations as the amount of money Rs are now spending in these places - and across the Senate battleground - is both staggering and unprecedented. We simply must keep pumping money into these states and races to have the election we all want to have.
We got new polls in Maine and Texas today that remind us that while we may now lead in most Senate polls these races are close, and we cannot let the Rs take them away from us in these closing days:
Talarico 47% - Paxton 45% - Marist
Talarico 50% - Paxton 47% - UT Austin/Texas Politics Project
Jackson 49% - Collins 47% - Suffolk
The great Sherrod Brown is coming by today at 115pm ET to update us on his must win race in Ohio. Join us!
Republicans have begun doubling, tripling down on the Senate for as Politico reports this morning everyone in town thinks the House will now flip to the Dems:
While Trump campaigns across the country trying to save the Senate he is also now overtly - and dangerously - aiding Russian-Iranian-Chinese ambitions in the Middle East and Europe. Last week he intervened against the will of Congress and our law to allow Russia sell their oil and gas on the global markets, fueling their war machines. He then called for a new Ukrainian leader, and imperiously demanded a ceasefire which Ukraine accepted and Russia has continually violated. While there have been reports of the US cutting back on intelligence sharing with the Ukrainians in recent days (this also helps Russia) we know that last night Elon Musk - the largest spender for Trump and Republicans in the election - restricted Starlink services to the Ukrainian military without giving the Ukrainians a heads up or explanation.
This week we’ve also seen escalating attacks by the Iranian and Chinese backed Houthis against Saudi Arabia’s energy and civilian infrastructure (mirroring Russian tactics in Ukraine). Major Saudi airports have been attacked and closed, and yesterday, the headquarters of the Saudi state owned oil company, the largest in the world, was attacked:
While Trump is thrusting his knife deeper into Ukraine he is also letting his close ally Saudi Arabia burn. In both cases the beneficiary is the illiberal Russian-Iranian-Chinese-North Korean alliance.
While Democrats will rightly be focusing on affordability and the economy after the election we are also going to have work furiously and urgently to stop Trump’s traitorous selling out of Ukraine/Europe/NATO and to find a better path in the Middle East. It would be welcome if that effort began today.
High oil prices fuel the Iranian and Russian war machines (and almost certainly Trump’s pocket book) while hurting American consumers and businesses:
Elevated energy prices sent inflation soaring in September, as the Consumer Price Index rose a staggering 0.6%, or more than 3 times the Fed’s target. Here’s the CPI trendline:
Tariffs, huge budget-busting tax cuts, the war, and his titanic idiocy have caused inflation to more than double under Trump:
Meanwhile signs of regime rot, idiocy, failure, and treachery are everywhere in today’s new coverage:
WaPo - Reflecting pool liner failed in 85 places after flawed renovation, inspection found
Politico - Administration delays release of IRS data showing impact of GOP tax cuts (the regime has withheld damning econ data from the public since July)
The Guardian - Judge extends White House access to banned media outlets CNN, MS Now and Politico
NYT - I’ve Worked in Congo for Decades. I’ve Never Seen an Ebola Crisis Like This. Trump and Elon have committed crimes against humanity.
Trump’s obsession with the Minnesota Somali community and Rep. Ilhan Omar has become completely unhinged. From The WaPo:
It is extremely unusual for federal agents to take public investigative actions related to a member of Congress just weeks before an election because doing so could cast a candidate who is not criminally charged in a negative light.
In Omar’s case, the investigation is notable for other reasons as well: It involves long-ago paperwork from when she was a teenager, and Omar is a lawmaker who has frequently been singled out for
[criticism and vitriol]by President Donald Trump and his allies. The president condemned her again in a social media post Tuesday, after U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro told Fox News that her office had launched a separate inquiry into Omar’s financial disclosure forms — a matter that has previously drawn the attention of House Republicans.
“America wants answers, and we want them, NOW!” wrote Trump, mirroring his previous calls for Justice Department investigations of his perceived political enemies……
Some members of Omar’s family have received grand jury subpoenas tied to the investigation in recent days, according to another person familiar with the matter who also spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss investigative details.
Finally, so the new ridiculous Press Secretary not only bombed, badly, yesterday; is not only a raging and dangerous conspiracy theorist; but she has also lied about being a lawyer for many, many years now. She may be following the disgraced Kimberly Guilfoyle out the door soon as new scandals flow out of the regime 24/7/365.
Yes, my friends, all of this - all of it - is why it is time now to….
