I’m sending you this “live” from at cosy café a stones throw from the beautiful St. Michael’s Church and Monestry downtown Kyiv. I’ve spent the weekend here. Met up with good people like . Yesterday I did a day trip around the main combat zones north and north west of the city where the hardest fights and Russian massacres took place back in March of 2022. You all remember the grizzly photos from Irpin and Bucha. It was a day of solemn remembrance, but also a day that tells you all you need to know about Ukrainian courage and combat spirit. The Ukrainians are NOT GIVING IN. Any western politician claiming Ukraine will be run over and should be abandoned is a lying snake! I’ve summarised my thoughts in this video where you’ll be surprised to hear a couple of facts I bring you:-)
We did a couple of “photo within the photo” shots yesteday. The first is that grizzly photo of Ukrainian civilians being taken to the Russian HQ in a factory in Bucha for torture and execution in March 2022. I’m sorry to remind everyone of these despicable scenes, but what happened MUST NEVER be forgotten! Now it’s a quiet and actually peaceful street corner just off the buzzing main street in Bucha. In total +400 civilians were executed in Bucha. In addition there are still missing people from Bucha where the bodies have never been recovered. I can’t remember the exact figure, but as far as I recall it’s around about 20.
Going back to these suburbs was amazing. Irpin and Bucha have been completely rebuilt and are buzzing. Look at the “before and after” below. The same building completely razed by wanton Russian destruction is now an apartment block with very nice apartments. That’s the sight you see everywhere around these suburbs and it shows you the Ukrainian spirit.
Anyhow, I’ll leave you with this. Always remember, the Ukrainians are fighting the fight for everyone who cares about freedom and democracy. We all need to do more to make sure we support them.
