Jonathan is my former graduate student. His economics PhD was in the field of finance. He was such a brilliant student that Nobel Laureate, Robert Merton, hired Jonathan as his research assistant. After graduating, Jonathan worked on Wall Street and in Newport, CA managing money for high-wealth families and developing investment strategies for Wall Street clients. All this started with Jonathan running away from home at 17 to become a musician in America. Life on the streets, a stint at Santa Monica Community College, admission as an undergrad to UCLA, and then admission to Boston University's superb PhD program in economics was preamble to these postings. Jonathan has now started his own financial advisory firm -- working with households. Check out Treussard Capital Management if you need a fantastic financial advisor. Jonathan and I cover a broad range of topics about our national and your personal economy. But much of the podcast is about finding an investment strategy that's customized for our individual needs. This, Jonathan relates, is no less true for multi millionaires than it is for people of regular means. Much of the genius of wealth management, as Jonathan puts it, is simple -- not losing money. Hence, Jonathan is focused as much on risk management than trying to beat the market. This is particularly important for retirees with financial assets that can't die before their owners.
