I don’t know how to say this, but an AI chatbot hit on me.
It started as I was getting set up for my interview with Charley Burlock, friend of the pod and author of the Atlantic article The AI Companies Trying to Make Grief Obsolete when an email with this subject line hit my inbox. When I opened it, I found this message:
It was a sign that 1) the episode with Charley was definitely meant to be, and 2) the AI companies REALLY ARE trying to steal and repackage your grief into a chatbot for the low, low price of all the data needed to make it resemble your dead person.
