Jessica Yellin: Hi, everyone. Something extraordinary is happening in American foreign policy. The president and his administration are taking steps that help a U.S. adversary potentially get closer to defeating a U.S. ally.

Congressman Jim Himes is the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, and he says that Trump is abandoning Ukraine in favor of Putin, and he is calling on Congress to step in.

Congressman Himes, thanks so much for joining me.

Rep. Jim Himes: Thanks for having me, Jessica.

JY: I appreciate your time. I know you’re a busy man. As I mentioned, you and two other senior House Democrats have accused Trump of abandoning Ukraine in favor of Putin. Those are even weird words for me to say. It is an extraordinary charge.

Would you walk us through the actions that Trump has taken that first led you to the conclusion? And which of these actions do you think is doing the most damage right now?
