It’s Ok to Believe Again
Tuesday was the most hopeful I’ve felt about politics since 2008. I had a feeling we’d win, and win big – a feeling I didn’t completely trust, given everything that’s happened over the last decade, but I couldn’t shake it.

I had a feeling we’d win, and win big – a feeling I didn’t completely trust, given everything that’s happened over the last decade, but I couldn’t shake it. It wasn’t just the polls, which I obsessed over like the true sicko that I am. It wasn’t just the war and the tariffs and the ICE raids. It wasn’t just the corrupt buffoons in charge who constantly advertise how little they give a shit about anyone but themselves and their egos and their money.
What I felt was that something had finally changed in America. That people were finally done. The Trump Show got old years ago, but it became intolerable to watch once the president and his party were the reason you couldn’t afford food or gas or rent, or the reason your kid was sent to the Middle East, or the reason your neighbor disappeared one day. It was no longer just an embarrassment you could turn away from, but a nightmare you couldn’t escape.
It shouldn’t have taken this long. There has been too much pain and suffering and cruelty that too many people allowed. There will probably be more. Two years is a lifetime and the President of the United States is the most powerful person on the planet.
But Donald Trump has lost the country.
