Three of our HP staffers are based in Texas, so they’re being subjected to an onslaught of ads for James Talarico for Senate. Judging by these ads, you’d think he was a conservative, pro-business, anti-tax Christian, rather than an off-puttingly weird leftist and heretic who thinks that God is non-binary and all religions are equal to Jesus in being pathways to God. There are so many jaw-dropping clips floating around that he’s recently had to start renouncing his own quotes, such as his claim that he no longer believes there are six genders. It’s like AOC laughing about how crazy Woke 1.0 was, when her election was a result of it.
Yet somehow, if you listen to the pollsters and liberal pundits, you’d think Texans were in the grip of Talaricomania, and he’s about to turn Texas blue. The inimitable ** Kurt Schlichter did something they never do** – he came to Texas and talked to actual Texans – and he’s not buying it. As always, his comments are as insightful as they are brutally hilarious.
Sample quote, on what he expects the self-deluding Democrats to think on Election night:
“We nominated a vegan, gun-grabbing, woke, anti-capitalist who wants to shut down the fossil-fuel industry and who talks about how God loves abortion and is non-binary, and we did it in Texas, and what the h*** were we thinking?”
Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico is spending millions of dollars on ads that try to remodel him into a pro-business, low-tax, small town Christian, but they keep getting undermined by his long history of truly weird, far-left quotes and stances. They’re resurfacing so quickly that Monday brought two of them in one day:
Speaking for ourselves, no, we’re not. We’re adults, and we don’t need the government to be our really big nanny.
The fact that he could not only answer that question but didn’t even have to take two seconds to think about who his favorite drag queen is doesn’t sound like something that would make Texas voters all that comfortable. We assume that this is the drag queen he would invite to perform for his imaginary kindergarten that we’re all part of. Hard pass.
