A large new study found that **IBS often comes before rosacea. **
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that causes facial redness, flushing, and acne-like bumps.
Researchers studied 1,421 people with both IBS and rosacea and found:
**55%**were diagnosed with IBS first.**42%**were diagnosed with rosacea first.**3%**received both diagnoses on the same day.
The findings add evidence to the gut-skin axis, the connection between gut bacteria, intestinal barrier function, immune responses, inflammation, and skin health.
One possible explanation is that gut microbiome changes and low-grade inflammation may influence skin inflammation.
The study does not prove IBS causes rosacea.
But it adds another piece to the growing evidence that IBS can be connected to health problems well beyond the digestive tract.
And more about the skin-gut axis…
You are not alone.
