Morning all. In less than twenty four hours Election Day - the final day of voting - begins. Make sure you have volunteered to do something these last two days. Reach out to your state or local parties, or campaigns nearby you admire. Do something. Help us win tomorrow. We are on the verge of having the election we all wanted to have and just need to keep working as hard as we can.
Here at Hopium we do more, worry less and in these last two days we just need to be doing…
And yesterday you did. Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign was threatened and we went to work, raising now $53,000 for his campaign, blowing past our initial $25,000 goal. You also raised $30,000 in the last two days for the Alaska Dems giving them a little boost given Trump’s ongoing - and failed so far - attempt to steal a Senate seat there. Thank you all. For here at Hopium we are prepared not scared and when things arise that need our attention * we go to work*.
Today my recommendation, in addition to imploring you to volunteer, is take one party, one candidate, and give them one last donation today. Can be of any amount. But reach back into our interviews, to stories you’ve read that have inspired you. Make one last show of gratitude for the remarkable people who’ve stepped up and fought for us in this challenging time.
They’ve left it all out there on the playing field for us, showing remarkable courage in a time of a violent US government and political movement who are literally killing Americans in the streets, ripping them for their homes, sending them to foreign gulags, murdering fisherman on the high seats, encouraging war crimes in Ukraine, the devastation of Gaza, and the now threatening more war crimes in Iran. This was no easy time to run and we’ve been blessed that so many inspiring men and women of character and vision and resilience made the tough decision to put themselves out there for all of us. Let’s close out this cycle by thanking them, and volunteering for them, one more time, and for Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti who gave their lives fighting the fascists in Minnesota…
I am overwhelmed this morning by the courage, love of country, grit, that we’ve all experienced these last two years. There are so many stories to tell, moments to be celebrated. There is no question that in this time of extraordinary crisis for our country tens of millions of us did not yield, did not run, but stood our ground, and fought……
But we are not done fighting, are we fellow patriots? Here’s my morning early vote update. Overall turnout up 22% from 2022, a huge surge in voting from young people and voters of colors. If these numbers hold through tomorrow what a powerful story they will tell…
As remarkable as all that data is, and it is remarkable, I want to revisit those new NYT polls, for in my more than 30 years in politics I and we have never seen anything like this. For there never have been polls like this:
We have not won a statewide race in Texas in 32 years, or a Senate seat in Kansas in 94 years. No one in recent memory have seen polls like this. This is an extraordinary time, and the American people sure seem to be acting like they understand and are on the verge of doing something historically significant this week.
Finally, as we rise to do our work today let us not for one moment forget that Trump, Elon, and greater MAGA have lost this year in Hungary, Brazil, Serbia, and now Israel. Putin is not winning his war. Iran has outplayed and humiliated Trump, Hegseth, and their whole ridiculous high T crew. For all their gains, their plunder, their destruction, their abuse of power, this terrible movement, MAGA, has stumbled badly this year and is far weaker now. Over the next few days we can deliver yet another brutal blow to it and they, and weaken them even further - which is everything we set out to do beginning the day after the election two years ago.
For what we want in these critical days ahead is for America to see him clearly now, and to see him as this - pathetic, vainglorious, venal, rapacious, ridiculous…..
In these next few days we have the opportunity to do something necessary, historic, vitally important, perhaps the most important thing many of us has ever done. For our mission here at Hopium is to ensure in these coming years that there is a new birth of freedom, here and everywhere, and that “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
So, let’s get on with it then, fellow patriots, let’s put our heads down, and together……
If you don’t have a favorite this cycle to close out with today let me make a recommendation - Adam Hamilton. He is on the verge of doing something that no Democrat has done in 94 years. M hyope is that we can raise him $35,000 today and help push him over the finish line. No one has a harder job than he in these final days of the 2026 campaign…..
