August 10 Early Morning Severe Storms

Three supercells in Illinois gelled into a supercell cluster & then a linear cluster to small line of storms that passed through part of our forecast area 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. on August 10. Large limbs were blown down on the west side of West Lafayette, trees were downed northwest of Crawfordsville & near Colfax & limbs & corn were blown down north of Otterbein to near Highway 18. Trees were also downed along the state line just west-southwest of Kentland. Some gusts likely reached +60 mph in Benton to eastern Warren to southwestern Tippecanoe County. Best potential of hailstone to 1” in diameter, or quarter-size (per radar data), was east of Steam Corner & near Earl Park.

Multiple reports of pea to dime hail were received from Earl Park, Fowler, Round Grove to parts of West Lafayette to Concord & east-central Fountain counties.
