Greetings everyone. Excited to share an interview we did with Adam Hamilton earlier today from his campaign bus just after finishing a campaign event in Pratt, Kansas.
Some highlights from our conversation:
“I'm a fifth generation Kansan. I am a United Methodist pastor. I pastor the largest United Methodist church in the United States –– my wife and I started it 36 years ago.”
“36 years later, we have 24,000 members. And I love the congregation. I just never imagined doing this at 62. But I found the last year and a half, I was so distraught by what was happening in our country, the ways I felt like our Constitution was being assaulted, the rights of people, so many things happening. The antithesis of what I preached and taught all of these years, and I felt like somebody's got to do something. And my wife finally said to me last January, maybe it's you. You've led this nonprofit, in secular terms, a nonprofit organization in Kansas with 450 employees and a $34 million budget. You built it from scratch. You know, you have a voice of reason. You inspire people. You have thought deep thoughts about what it means to be human and how we are supposed to live towards one another, love our neighbors.”
“Our early voting looks really strong and it's really strong across the state. In the areas where we know we're strongest, we're outperforming 2:1 Republicans. I’ll just say this – 20-40% of people at every campaign stop I make are Republicans. We've had two former Republican governors who have endorsed. We've got former Kansas legislature leaders in our state endorsing. I just came off the stop in Pratt, again, which is one of the reddest parts of our state. And people had their buttons on – Republicans for Hamilton. In Kansas, only 25% of our state are Democrats. So you cannot win this state without winning Republicans. And we're seeing them. It's pretty cool.”
More from Rev. Hamilton:
“My books have been used by Sunday school classes and Bible studies across the state, so we started with a good name recognition. But I'll tell you what I really see –– people are looking for a leader who actually cares about them. And what I hear over and over and over again about our sitting Republican senator, Roger Marshall, is he doesn't listen. It's been 600 days since he had an open listening session or a town hall in our state.”
“I'm here to listen. Tell me what I need to hear. And over and over again, I hear people feeling like they were abandoned or betrayed by the White House, by this administration that promised lower prices and no wars. And instead, you know, they're paying the price for these wars. They're paying the price for the tariffs.”

Here’s why we encouraged by the early vote. Turnout is way past 2022, and the electorate is 16 points more Democratic today. Really encouraging stuff!
Please consider giving to this remarkable candidate today and keep working hard everyone. For we have a country to save, and elections like this one in Kansas to win, together! - Simon
Adam Hamilton is a Democratic candidate for the United States Senate in Kansas who has devoted his life to service. A fifth-generation Kansan, his family came to Dickinson County 147 years ago and helped build the towns of Hope and Elmo. His mother’s parents came to Wichita to work at Beechcraft, and his grandfather went on to fly for TWA.
Adam grew up in Prairie Village and married his high school sweetheart, LaVon, the week after graduation. They celebrated their 44th anniversary this June. They have two daughters, a granddaughter, and two dogs.
In 1990, at 25 years old, Adam and LaVon started a church in the Kansas City area with four people in a borrowed space. For 36 years he has served as pastor of a congregation roughly equal parts Republicans, Democrats and independents, doing the work to bring people together that politicians only talk about. The congregation he built has come together to give hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours and raise tens of millions of dollars to support neighbors and communities in need.
They became the largest source of donated food in Kansas City after the regional food bank and the area’s largest sponsor of blood drives. They gave away thousands of beds to children who didn’t have one, funded a mobile dental clinic that treats 2,700 kids a year at their schools, and invested millions of dollars in the lowest-income elementary schools in the area.
Adam is running for Senate because he believes we need to stop the chaos and corruption in Washington by actually listening to people and working together to get things done for Kansas families. Before deciding to run, he went on a listening tour, visiting communities all across the state to hear from people about their concerns. In his work, his writing, and now his campaign, Adam believes we are all called to serve our communities.
