Greetings everyone. Excited to introduce to you today Brian Poindexter, a union ironworker running hard to flip OH-7 blue this November. A recording of our live talk from earlier today along with a rough transcript can be found above.

Here’s the new map of District 7, rated R+5 by the Cook Report. Well within the range of districts we are targeting this cycle.
In our interview Brian talks about how due to his opponent’s financial advantage they’ve had to get creative with their ads:
People are really starting to connect the dots on how this corruption is driving up costs and making their lives harder. People overwhelmingly support banning congressional stock trading — my opponent, Max Miller, trades stocks, and it shows up in his votes. He's willing to support efforts that boost the stock market, which in turn boost his own portfolio. There's the corruption of dark money in politics — my opponent [Max Miller] takes corporate PAC money and benefits directly from dark money in politics, and we see it in the campaign he's running. It's strictly a negative campaign trying to overshadow his own personal misdeeds, trying to lie, expanding the truth for his own benefit. He thinks he can buy his way out of his troubles with that dark money.
So we've had to get creative. We're producing and running good ads, giving people real insight into who I am as a person. And they're landing well with voters because it's a message that reminds them of their neighbor, their friend, somebody just like them.

A sordid, yearslong family drama involving two powerful Republican members of Congress from Ohio and allegations of domestic abuse is threatening to put a fairly safe G.O.P. House seat at risk in an already challenging midterm election year for the party.
Representative Max Miller, a second-term Republican representing northeast Ohio whose political rise was fueled by his close relationship to President Trump, has been accused by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, of domestic abuse against her and their 2-year-old daughter.Ms. Moreno, the daughter of Senator Bernie Moreno, also an Ohio Republican, has said that Mr. Miller scalded her chest and stomach by throwing hot water from a skillet at her body; held a gun to her head; pushed her against a wall and hit her head; and fractured their daughter’s collarbone and bruised her shoulder.
According to court documents, their daughter at one point told Ms. Moreno, “Daddy kill you.”
Mr. Miller has not only denied it all, he has gone on offense against Ms. Moreno, making damaging accusations of his own in a series of media interviews, court filings and countersuits that have kept the family’s personal trauma in the headlines. He has called his ex-wife mentally ill, a liar, a stalker and a dangerous individual who has made him and their daughter unsafe.
Yes, we have to do everything we can to help Brian win.

Brian Poindexter is the son of a union machinist, the grandson of a union autoworker, and one of six children who grew up in the City of Cleveland. His mother was a stay-at-home mom, and while they didn’t come from wealth, they had everything a family needs: a stable home and a strong example.
By age 15, Brian was already working in a machine shop while lettering in three high school sports—football, wrestling, and baseball. His schedule was relentless: he would work the 7-to-11 shift every night after school and put in double shifts on weekends. That drive to work never slowed down. After high school, Brian worked in kitchens and factories, driving tow motors, plating, and powder coating. He eventually joined the moving industry, obtaining his Class A CDL and traveling across all 48 continental United States.
His true career began when he joined the Ironworkers. Since 2007, Brian has been a proud union Ironworker. He worked his way through the apprenticeship program while simultaneously earning an Associate Degree in Applied Industrial Technology from Cuyahoga Community College. After graduating, he spent two years as a union organizer (2012–2014), fighting to bring the benefits of union membership to others who were struggling without representation. He returned to the field in 2014 to run some of the region's most complex jobs, including the Lumen at Playhouse Square, the Headframe at Morton’s Salt, and critical infrastructure at NASA Glenn Research Center. Today, he serves as an apprenticeship instructor at Ironworkers Local 17, passing these skills on to the next generation.
In 2017, Brian took that same pro-worker mentality to public service, getting elected as an at-large member of Brook Park City Council. Throughout his time in office, he has been a steadfast advocate for working families, opposing "Right to Work" laws and school choice vouchers while supporting the postal system and public schools.
