Here are some Michigan specific stories we wanted to share with you:
The Smithsonian Institution is once again the center of controversy over accusations of an exhibit in a museum affliate pushing anti-American propaganda. The Arab American National Museum (AANM) in (you guessed it) Dearborn, Michigan, features an exhibit on the 9/11 attacks that ** spends more time on alleged discrimination** against Arab-Americans than on the attacks themselves.
It sounds like an exhibit inspired by the late comedian Norm Macdonald’s famous tweet, “What terrifies me is if ISIS were to detonate a nuclear device and kill 50 million Americans. Imagine the backlash against peaceful Muslims?”
Despite the museum pushing the liberal narrative that Arab-Americans and Muslims suffered intense discrimination post-9/11, the story notes, “President George W. Bush publicly urged Americans not to blame Muslims for the attacks, and polling later suggested attitudes toward Muslim Americans actually improved in the immediate aftermath. The share of Americans who viewed Muslim Americans favorably rose from 45% in March 2001 to 59% in November, two months after the attacks, according to the Pew Research Center.”
The story also notes that on September 10, one day before the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the AANM is scheduled to present the film, “Seeds for Liberation,” which portrays Hamas’ Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel as part of a decades-long Palestinian “struggle” within a broader history of “anti-imperialist and decolonial movements.” How many of our tax dollars are subsidizing that?
If you’re looking to give your kids an educational experience, we suggest visiting some other museum. Here’s** a list of suggestions**, ranging from the Museum of Bad Art to the SPAM Museum. In fact, if you visit the SPAM Museum, the National Mustard Museum and the Idaho Potato Museum, you could make a gift shop meal that would be easier to swallow than the leftist propaganda at the Smithsonian-affiliated museums.
This Is Actually Real: In light of the trade war with Canada, President Trump said he’s thinking of ** renaming Lake Ontario to “Lake America.”** We also suggest that he change Lake Superior to “Lake Really Fantastic.”
Here’s yet another “Democratic” Socialist House candidate who’s ** frantically trying to distance himself** from his past radical stances, including defunding the police.
Unfortunately for Michigan candidate William Lawrence, not only has a felony arrest stemming from an anti-oil pipeline protest resurfaced online, so has his tweet from a month later, calling for defunding the police. Maybe he should claim he’s not an anti-police socialist radical, he’s just really self-serving. That’s not an impediment to a career in politics.
Must-See! Lorenzo Sewell, the black pastor of 180 Church in Dearborn, Michigan, went viral after making a fiery speech at a town hall meeting, ** denouncing local officials’** bowing to the Muslim immigrant community in defiance of American culture and civil rights.
Sewell declared, “America, we have lost this city. This is a city that is no longer up under American laws; we are up under Sharia law. We will not have it anymore. Enough is enough.” He added, “You are only 1% of this nation. We are not a nation of Muslims.” He cited as proof the lack of arrests of Muslim counterprotesters who assaulted anti-Islamic political activist Jake Lang.
The police say they have arrested one suspect and are seeking info on the identities of others, and the mayor of Dearborn, Abdullah H. Hammoud, denied that Muslims get special treatment. But as this story notes, thanks to mass migration under Obama, Dearborn is now the only American city to have a majority (54.5%) Arab population.
If you’ve never heard the name Hasan Piker, congratulations: you have a life. For the record, Piker is an “online influencer” (formerly known as “self-important blowhard”) who is an anti-American, anti-Semitic socialist radical and the type of modern outrage merchant who gets attention by attacking Israel, saying that America deserved 9/11 and mocking Charlie Kirk’s murder. In short, a waste of oxygen whom anyone with a brain would dismiss as an irrelevant boil on the butt cheek of society.
Unfortunately, we currently have a lot of people without brains, so Piker has become something of a kingmaker in the Democratic Party, or at least the faction of it that votes for socialists masquerading as Democrats. It’s funny how Republicans are expected to repudiate such lowlifes (and there are plenty of these useless annoyances on the right, too) or else be tarred with supporting their repulsive beliefs, but Democrats can keep quiet as long as their influence is useful.
Sadly for Piker, people seem to be waking up to the toxic beliefs of the “Democratic” socialists who’ve been picking off the party’s nominations. And they may have the “energy” the media loves, but thankfully, there aren’t really that many voters who want to turn America into Cuba. So some Democrats other than John Fetterman are finally seeing the downside of being taken over by people who hate the Democratic Party almost as much as they hate America, capitalism, Israel and personal hygiene.
David Manney at PJ Media ** has a report** on how Democrats are finally starting to speak up and put distance between themselves and Hasan Piker’s toxic brain drool.
For instance, Michigan Democratic Rep. Hillary Scholten called Piker “a hack who thrives on hate.” We’d say that’s just as true now as it was a year or two ago, when it would have been more helpful to say it, but better late than never.
Even Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who campaigned with Piker, is now distancing himself, but then, he’s denied so many of his previous stances that he’s also distancing himself from himself. He’s going so far to try to convince people that he’s not a crazy socialist radical (like, apparently, his family members) that last night, he ** gave a lengthy interview to Jesse Watters on Fox News**. Seeing him on Fox News is akin to spotting a dolphin in the Mojave Desert. You can watch that interview and read excerpts here.
And Nick Arama at Redstate ** has a critique of the interview** that calls it a “train wreck” and predicts it could sink his election chances.
As expected, El-Sayed denied or dodged questions about some of his previous statements, such as backing men in women’s sports. But he also defended others, such as taxing the rich (Inconvenient Truth: The “rich” don’t have nearly enough money to cover all the left’s promises and it’s not even close.) He also claimed that ICE enforcing immigration laws is “tyranny” and accused Republicans who want to ban immigrants who support Sharia law of “deliberately targeting the Muslim Community because they’re different.”
(Editor’s note: It’s fine to be different if you’re an immigrant, but you are expected to assimilate to our culture, not try to bend ours to yours. You want Sharia law, there are plenty of other countries cursed with it. You’re entitled to preserve your family heritage, but you’re not entitled to your own set of laws.)
El-Sayed also ** launched a thousand memes** by comparing gender-“affirming” surgery on minors (castration) to circumcision. We’re surprised that he’s not against that because it’s Jewish.
Most tellingly for this topic, El-Sayed accused his opponent Mike Rogers of being a “beta” male who “thinks he is running against Hasan Piker.” He obviously is trying to send a message that he’s nothing like that socialist radical who endorsed him and campaigned with him.
Which is true. Say what you will about Piker, at least he’s honest about what he really is. But probably only because he’s not running for anything.
