Michigan Senate candidates Mike Rogers and Abdul El-Sayed held a debate last week, and things did not go well for the Democrat. Jennifer Oliver O’Connell at ** Redstate.com has a good recap complete with video clips**. If you like watching a very uncomfortable looking leftist being confronted with his indefensible statements and trying without success to defend them, then this was your Super Bowl.
El-Sayed still must have been rattled post-debate. How else to explain what he told an interviewer is the job of the US Congress? ** He said**:
“We’ve got to remember that our job is to be the principal upholder of international law.”
No, the job of Congress is to be the branch of the government that makes American laws. The US doesn’t recognize the authority of “international law” because we have a Constitution and a Bill of Rights that say we are not subject to what a bunch of fatuous bureaucrats in Europe think we should do. In fact, we fought a bloody revolution just to make that point.
El-Sayed ** also flip-flopped and admitted that “Medicare For All”** would eliminate your private health plan. It would stick you with no alternative but government-paid health care, which would cost you more in taxes than your private insurance does now. And as a reminder, El-Sayed is NOT a doctor, but his wife is...and she doesn’t take Medicare.

Attention, voters! In case you were thinking that the radical “Democratic” socialists were just a small part of the Democratic Party, ** let California Gov. Gavin Newsom assure you** that, no, they are the tail that’s wagging the dog. So vote wisely.
** Wired published an article** on some of the many Democrats who fled America after Trump’s reelection, assuming that they would be happier in Europe, with its leftist governance, tolerance for foreigners, social programs and “free” healthcare. Now, like Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres, they’re crawling back to the US, filled with regrets. Turns out the “dictator Trump” is a lot more tolerant of free speech than European leftists are, and “free” healthcare is very expensive, particularly when you’re paying the government for it and can’t even get it.
** The Supreme Court ruled** that New Hampshire does not have to accept student IDs as a valid form of voter ID in the upcoming election. The ruling came after a lower court judge blocked a new state law excluding student IDs and ordered the state to accept them. The SCOTUS didn’t rule on the merits of the case challenging the law, but found that the judge violated the Purcell Principle, which holds that judges shouldn’t issue such rulings too close to an election since it can cause voter confusion.
