Besides Axios’ and Politico’s reporting on the latest Witkoff-Dimitriev sneak attack on Ukraine, there’s lots of important and underreported stuff going on. My brief goes over:
Witkoff and Dimitriev conspire to carve up Ukraine
Trump’s NATO ambassador Whittaker announces that US wants to see Germany take over the role of SACEUR.
Russia blows up Polish railway track and forces Romanian evacuation of villages along the Danube,
Trump hosts fellow autocrat MBS AKA Mohamed bin Sawman at the White House.

As I say in the brief, it’s still premature to conclude that the Witkoff-Dimitriev plan will come to fruition. Certainly, Ukraine and the Europeans won’t accept it. However, if the Trump administration tries to bully the Europeans holding the SACEUR position for ransom by saying either Europe accepts the Witkoff-Dimitriev plan or US vacates SACEUR, Europe is in deep trouble. Unfortunately, it’s a scenario we cannot rule out at this point.
So put on your battle-rattle and stay safe!
