There’s a conversation that plays out in therapists’ offices, HR departments, and well-meaning friend groups every single day. Someone, often a high-achieving, deeply conscientious person, hits a wall so complete that they can barely get out of bed (not you, of course ;)).
They’ve lost the ability to do things they used to love. Their brain feels like it’s running through concrete. And the response they receive, almost universally, is some version of this:
“You need to rest more. Set better boundaries. Practice self-care. Maybe try therapy.”
And they (you) try. They really do. They rest. They boundary-set. They download the meditation app. They go to therapy and do the work. And months later, sometimes years later, they’re still exhausted. Still foggy. Still unable to understand why they can’t just recover like everyone else seems to.
