Good morning from Montgomery, Alabama. Today’s audio reflection highlights one of the most breathtaking memorials I’ve ever seen in my life.
There’s an installation here that contains hundreds of glass jars that have been filled with soil collected from lynching sites across America. I probably student at this installation for a good 30 minutes with my head tilted reading every single name. I recognized many of them and could tell you the details of their murders.
And now, here I am days latter still troubled by a haunting question: Should racial terror or other evil historical atrocities be made beautiful? The answer is a paradox.
