This week, our Instagram feeds turned into one big scroll of Onam photos and videos - pookkalams, women in Kerala sarees and people celebrating Onam with family, friends and colleagues alike. Google and Microsoft were among the prominent companies that held massive celebrations for their employees. On Instagram, employees shared snippets of the traditional sadya (feast), games and the floral arrangements at their offices.
Bengaluru hospital’s music night sparks outrage
A health-tech startup in Bengaluru sparked massive outrage online recently after it organised a “music night” inside a hospital. Videos from the event at Superhealth Hospitals in Bengaluru that made their way to social media showed live music and people socialising on a hospital floor. One of the clips captured an empty patient bed in a corridor, in sharp contrast to the musical event happening just metres away. A large section of users on X slammed the organisers for holding the event inside a hospital, arguing that patients and families may be dealing with illness, emergencies or even grief. The founder and CEO of Superhealth went on to defend holding the event. “Hospitals do not need to be scary places. We are going to keep pushing that belief,” Varun Dubey said in an X post, further fuelling criticism.
85 LPA to content creation
In another story that got people talking, software engineer Saksham Raj Seth revealed walking away from his Rs 85 LPA job to pursue travel content creation full-time. Interestingly, his wife, also a software engineer, hasn’t quit her job even though she earns less than what Saksham made earlier.
