In today’s newsletter, British counterterrorism police are investigating a major terrorist plot near RAF Fairford, the British air base being used by American bombers in operations against Iran. In related news, President Trump rejected Tehran’s latest proposal for ending the war, but he says negotiations will continue. Pope Leo XIV concluded his visit to France with a pointed reminder that Europe’s civilization cannot be separated from its Christian roots. Back home, the Supreme Court intervened yet again in the battle over Missouri’s congressional map, residents of the Northeast are recovering from a deadly nor’easter, and much more.

British authorities on Sunday arrested five men on suspicion of attempting a terrorist attack on the RAF Fairford air base, a UK military base where American bombers take off for missions against Iran. They were arrested with three vans that were suspected of being planned for use as car bombs.
The plot was foiled after a farmer spotted the vans and men in balaclavas near the air base, got suspicious and called the police. In the UK, the farmer was lucky he didn’t get arrested for ethnic profiling.
You can find more information, photos and video ** at the link from Townhall.com**.
While there have been reports of it being a possible Iranian-backed plot or even having Russian involvement, the story notes that the suspects’ identities have yet to be released, “and no motive, intent, or information about their alleged crimes have been released at this time, with a government spokesman stating that it is ‘inappropriate to comment further whilst investigations are ongoing.’”
Yes, it would definitely be a wild leap to conclusions to suggest that the bomb plotters in balaclavas who were targeting the air base used by US bombers against Iran were likely Middle Eastern Islamic radicals. We extend our thanks and gratitude to the UK authorities who prevented the attack. But it would have been more impressive if, instead of relying on a lone farmer to happen to see them and report it, the UK could have the kind of immigration system that doesn’t actively wave wannabe terrorists right on into the country.
Sunday, President Trump ** rejected a proposal by Tehran** to end the war with Iran, saying that he might have accepted their terms a year ago, but “they overplayed their hand.” Trump said talks with Iran will continue this week, but when asked if he’s thinking about further military action, he replied, “I am always thinking about it.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister told “Meet the Press,” “We are fully prepared for the war to be resumed...We stand firm in the face of any new aggression, even if it comes to a doomsday war...At the same time, we stand ready for diplomacy. It is up to President Trump to choose.”
Note: The threat of a “doomsday war” is a lot scarier when you aren’t referring to your own doomsday.
Meanwhile, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that Trump’s blockade of Iran and his campaign of extreme economic sanctions has brought Tehran to its knees and is forcing them to seek negotiations. Bessent ** said there are only about 15 million** barrels of Iranian oil currently in transit and once they reach China in two weeks, “Iran will have nothing left to trade for anything.”
Also, despite high gas prices due to fears of supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, Bessent said, “The straits are open...If you take out the Iranian oil, which we are not letting out, we’re averaging now 15 to 22 million barrels a day; it was at about 20 pre-conflict.”

Monday, Pope Leo wrapped up a visit to France by ** reminding European leaders** to remember and embrace Europe’s “Christian heritage.” He said, “One cannot speak of Europe without mentioning Christianity.” It’s an especially timely message as nations across Europe are seeing their populations start to finally stand up in revolt against leftist leaders who opened the borders and allowed massive waves of Third World Muslim immigrants who are refusing to assimilate and trying to take over.
Just as there is a big difference between an “immigrant” and an “illegal alien” (a fact the Democrats and Western media refuse to acknowledge), there is also a glaring difference between a “migrant” and a “hostile invader,” and many Europeans are sick of being invaded.
As proof, in the latest state election in Germany, the ruling (for now) Christian Democratic Union Party was crushed by the populist AfD party. The CDU suffered the biggest loss in its history, taking only 4.9% of the vote and failing to win a single seat. Blogger Lawrence Person has more on that story, along with some illuminating history of how Europe came under siege and now revolt due to leftwing elitist politicians throwing open the borders and prioritizing Third World migrants over their own citizens. He also ** makes a good case** for why former German Chancellor Angela Merkel was the worst European leader of this century, with her open borders insanity and her reliance on buying oil from Russia while dismantling Germany’s nuclear power plants to stop “climate change.”
In fact, we’d say the only thing preventing Merkel from being the worst German leader ever is that she faces such stiff competition.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those in the Northeast ** who are still dealing with the effects of this weekend’s powerful nor’easter storm** that brought high winds and flooding to coastal areas. It’s expected to linger through tomorrow. Long Island and the New Jersey coast bore the brunt of the storm, with about 150,000 people losing power. A number of people had to be rescued after they were trapped in their cars and homes by flooding, and one man was killed by a falling tree in Brooklyn. There are more details and sobering photos at the link.
And at this writing, ** we’re watching the path of Hurricane Polo** as it approaches landfall in Baja California Sur as a category three hurricane. Our prayers are with all those in its path. Please take precautions and stay safe.
There have been so many back-and-forth court rulings on whether Missouri can use the new GOP-friendly congressional map this year that we gave up on reporting them. It was like trying to write about the action in a ping-pong tournament. Well, maybe this will be the final word:
Friday, the Supreme Court intervened in the fight for the third time, ** overturning an 8** that the new GOP map could be used. The SCOTUS said there is no precedent that the general election map has to be the same as the map used in the primary, and that with early voting already underway, changing the Congressional map again now would spark chaos.
Do you know what strikes us as “sparking chaos?” Letting every government decision be overridden by unelected federal judges.
DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced that since Trump took office in 2025, the ** DHS has arrested over 2100 known or suspected terrorists **who were allowed into the US, often using false names. If only someone had informed the Biden White House that the term “terrorist watch list” means that somebody is supposed to be WATCHING them.
While Democrats are trying to get back into power on a promise to restore “affordability,” citing high gas prices due to the Iranian conflict, voters would be suckers to believe them. Affordability is the last thing that the Dems know how to deliver, and a closer look at gas prices only confirms that.
The current average price of a gallon of regular gas in the US is $4.48. But that is misleading, since the high average is due to Democrat-run blue states pulling the price up. For instance, a gallon of regular gas is $3.91 in Texas, but $6.36 in tax-crazy California.
And let’s not forget that dollars now are not the same value as they were in previous years. If you adjust for inflation to 2026 dollars, the national average gas price under Biden in June 2022 was an eye-popping $5.53 a gallon. That’s over a dollar a gallon more than it is today. And the Dems are urging Americans to put them back into power so they can launch another war on energy in the name of appeasing the climate gods and drive it right back up again.
The Democrats should be sued for false advertising just for using “Happy Days Are Here Again” as their theme song.
