Hello, MC360 Community!
Who has tried a supplement and reacted?
Then tried another and had the same problem?
You try something new that should be helpful... and within minutes, hours, or even days, you’re in a flare.
And it happens with supplements, medications, foods, etc. Even when you know it’s something you need!
The reason this happens is because your mast cells and nervous system are on high alert. And the way around it is adding new things slowly while pulling out some of the things putting pressure on your system (toxins, stress, triggering fillers and ingredients, etc).
We’ll talk about this topic as a whole over the next few weeks.
Today we’re going to chat about what it really means to start things low and slow. Most people overestimate what that looks like. 😉
In this post, you’ll learn:
Why starting with the “recommended dose” often backfires for sensitive people
The 4 core principles of starting low and going slow
How to do “sprinkles and drops” or even microdose
When to try new things (and when NOT to)
Specific strategies for different supplement types (capsules, tablets, liquids)
How to build up gradually without triggering flares
What to do if you still react
If you’ve ever felt like you react to everything, this approach can be the step forward you are looking for.

When you have MCAS, your mast cells are already on high alert. They’re primed to react.
Adding something new, even something supportive, can feel like a threat to your system.
Starting low and going slow means:
Taking doses as small as you need to avoid triggering a flare
Building up as slowly as your body needs to
How slow is slow? How low is low?
As slow and low as YOU need. This is different for everyone and will vary depending on what you’re trying.
Some people can start with half a capsule. Others need a single grain of powder in a glass of water.
Neither is wrong. The goal is to avoid triggering ongoing flares so you can actually build up your supports.
Let’s walk through how we approach this with clients.
