This has been an exciting week. * A Glorious Fate: The Life and Legacy of Robert Gould Shaw* is now officially published. You can now order it wherever you order books online and you may even find it in your local bookstore.
I was thrilled to see a couple copies at my favorite local bookstore. Thanks to the wonderful staff at Brookline Booksmith for stocking it and for allowing me to sign their copies.
On Tuesday I spoke with Bjorn Skaptason at the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago to officially kick off the book’s release. You can watch our conversation if you missed it below. They still have signed copies of my book for sale.

On Monday at 10AM EST I will be doing a live chat with my good friend John Heckman. It’s called “Historians Off the Clock.” John and I are going to talk about what we are currently reading and a bunch of other subjects. We’ll respond to your questions and comments. The goal is to make this a regular thing, so join us if you have the time. It promises to be a lot of fun.
Finally, a reminder for all of you, who are paid subscribers, that this coming Sunday will be our next meeting. The meeting will begin at 8PM EST. I will send a Zoom link in advance. Please check your spam folder if you don’t receive it beforehand.
We are doing something different this time around. Instead of one book, we decided on a short list of books about Reconstruction. We’ll see how it goes, but I am very much looking forward to our conversation. There is still time to upgrade if you would like to join us.
