Greetings all. Hope everyone got a little rest this weekend for the general election has begun and we have a lot of work to do. People are getting ballots and voting in NC and WI this week, and early in person begins next Friday. Let’s kick off the official start of the general election this week with the Hopium Daily Mantra:

In my talk last week I argued that as bad as things were Trump and the Rs - and they are bad - they are likely to get worse now. As we wake today we are seeing what worse looks like……
Four polls released in the last few days - Ipsos/Reuters, NBC News, FT/Focal Data, Civiqs - had Trump at his lowest level of the cycle. No matter what the White House has done they have been unable to stop or reverse his ongoing decline…..

The escalating trade war with Canada is going to hurt businesses here in the US, raise prices for everyone, and hurt the prospects of Republican candidates along the Canadian border in the NH, MI, ME, MN, and WI battlegrounds. What in the world is Trump doing here?
Interest rates are rising across the world. The global economy is under increasing stress. Trump’s economic team is now understood to be a partisan hack way over their head, unlikely to keep things together if things get bad. Chances the Fed raises interest rates next week - and Trump’s head explodes - are increasing.
Trump’s barbaric cuts to health care are starting to be felt by a much wider group of Americans - basically everyone:
This week, tomorrow and Thursday, Republicans will be gathering in Dallas to try to put lipstick on this Trumpian pig. Given his mounting failures it is a herculean political task, likely to fail, with the added benefit for us that they will be explicitly tying the Republican brand more directly to the unpopular, corrupt, morally bankrupt Trump/Paxton wing of the GOP.
It has been conventional wisdom that it’s hard for Democrats to run on Republican corruption because voters see everyone in Washington as corrupt. According to new Navigator data that appears to be changing, as Trump and Republicans are seen as more corrupt, even with Republican voters:
This data is consistent with the NYT battleground Senate polling from July that showed “character” as the top reason voters were supporting our candidates:
And a place where we have a significant electoral advantage (except for Maine at the time):
So while the Republicans may get a little bump this week with their oligarchical corruptionfest they also risk tying their brand far more closely to a politics their candidates simply cannot sell to battleground voters this November……

I attended (among other things) the Democracy Protectors Constitutional Observer Training last week by Tim Wegener and it was excellent.
We must get the word out to the entire democratic family regarding the importance of this training and the need to actively participate in the upcoming election for the protection of our democracy.
The training provided lessons learned from the ICE invasion in Minneapolis and is primarily focused on documenting and reporting election interference.
They covered everything: understanding 18USC592 - which prohibits law enforcement from intimidating voters, knowing your personal rights, safe observation zones at polling places, responses to authorities, how to document interference with your phone, encrypted communications using Signal and even the use of burner phones.
Tim Wegener was efficient and serious. There was not a minute of fluff in the 60 min presentation from him.
They have many volunteer opportunities including remote if people are not comfortable working in person at polling places.
Just thought I would share.
