On today’s Royalist live stream (which you can watch in full above) I was joined by the brilliant Samara Gill, host of TalkTV’s Triggered and author of a must-read eponymous (I LOVE USING THAT WORD) Substack newsletter, to dig into my exclusive report that Meghan Markle has finally been spotted out and about in Britain (at, where else, Soho Farmhouse).
My Cotswolds sources tell me Meghan arrived alone earlier this week, before 9am, and made her way directly to the relaxed upstairs area of the big barn known as Comfy Farm (squashy sofas, laptops tolerated, children banned). Considerable fanfare was made of her by the staff, I’m told, with lots of “this is so-and-so, he’s our new barista” introductions of the type Soho House specializes in.
Samara wasn’t remotely surprised by the choice of venue. “All roads seem to lead back to Soho House for Meghan,” she said. “It seems like she’s just kind of come crawling back to the one place that she knows very well.” This is, after all, where she had her first date with Harry (Dean Street, according to Harry’s own account in Spare), and there is something wonderfully circular about her first sighting back in Britain, six years after Megxit, being at the group’s Cotswolds outpost.
But as Samara pointed out, for a woman who has banged on about privacy at every opportunity, Soho Farmhouse is a curious refuge: “While it’s a private members club, it’s not that private. It’s kind of where people go to be seen..It’s pretty telling that she still very much wants to be in the spotlight, contrary to what she’s saying publicly.”
I said that part of the reason I felt there was a clear public interest defense in reporting the sighting is that the Sussexes’ office has still not officially confirmed that they are living in the United Kingdom, even as the fifth, sixth, and seventh in line to the throne apparently put down roots here. Samara was blunter than I was: “It’s sort of gaslighting to the highest order, what she and her office are doing. Popping up here and there in the Cotswolds, not confirming anything, but also very much showing to the public that they have moved back to England.”
