Highs today topped out at 81-95 from northeast to southwest with heat indices 84-107.

Flood Watch is up for chunk of the forecast area tonight after 1-6” rainfall over the past few days (except in our far southern & southeastern counties):

There are multiple boundaries around.

One is the remnant outflow boundary from our overnight & morning storms. It has popped storms over southern Illinois & southern Indiana.

Another is a boundary separating more northeast winds from southwest winds with 70s to 80s over our far northeastern counties to 80s & 90s farther southwestward.

Another one is an outflow boundary from storms well to our northwest with subtle MCV or old vortex or mini low associate with it.

Finally, there is a bit of a lake breeze front too in Will, Cook to Lake & Porter counties.

Near the MCV & at the intersection of lake breeze front & two other boundaries, storms have quickly flared up this evening in Newton, Jasper counties.

Latest guidance suggests that storms will increase into the night & move southeastward through chunk of the area before completely exiting by 6 a.m.

There is the risk of a couple isolated severe storms (wind, brief EF0) & some locally-heavy rainfall.
