As we prepare for the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks tomorrow, a number of memorials are already taking place. And unfortunately, a number of snide and ignorant comments are being made, both by people too young to remember the enormous tragedy of that day and by those whose political agendas would benefit from Americans forgetting or being misinformed about what really happened.
A good example of how ** leftwing media are attempting to rewrite history** is the story of how the Texas Board of Education has approved a “controversial curriculum” tying “radical Islam to 9/11.” Note the framing: it is simply assumed that that would be “controversial.”
Muslim groups such as CAIR (Fun fact: CAIR has been designated as a terrorist organization by both Texas and Florida) protested that this is discriminatory against Muslims. They also protest the part of the curriculum that teaches about the Prophet Muhammad’s “brutal military campaigns against Jewish and Christian tribes,” the “normalization of slavery” and the taking of female captives as “harem slaves,” calling it an attack on their religion. This could also be described as “history.” We’re sure they would be equally outraged at history classes that teach the reality of the Spanish Inquisition.
In fact, tying radical islam to 9/11 should be about as controversial as tying Japan to Pearl Harbor.
And now, to wash that story out of your minds’ eye, here’s a story about President Trump on Tuesday taking part in a 9/11 memorial ** where he posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Welles Crowther**. Known as “the man in the red bandana,” the late equities trader and volunteer firefighter helped rescue 18 people from the South Tower before he was killed in its collapse. If anyone wishes to describe this honor to him as “controversial,” they know what they can do with their objections.
MUST-READ: Brian Leakage ** on X wrote an excellent response** to all the snarky, entitled know-nothings who are trying to downplay the horror and significance of the 9/11 attacks. This should be required reading in American schools, and then maybe we wouldn’t be graduating so many junior league terrorist sympathizers.
New Hampshire held primary elections on Tuesday, and the results were mostly as expected, the good news being in the Democrat primaries where there were no upset victories by socialist lunatics. Maybe Dem primary voters are finally waking up to the DSA’s cowbird-like tactic of flooding low-turnout primaries to steal nominations.
Former Senator John Sununu easily won the GOP primary for the Senate seat he lost to Jeanne Shaheen in 2009 (she’s retiring this year at 79.) Center-left Rep. Chris Pappas beat candidates from the far left for the Democratic nomination, with both men winning their races by about 2-1 margins. Republicans hope to flip this seat to protect their narrow Senate majority.
Incumbent Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte secured renomination with over 92% of the vote. And in House District 1, Trump-endorsed businessman Anthony DiLorenzo will face Sen. Shaheen’s daughter, Stefany Shaheen, who is described as a moderate Democrat, whatever that means these days. That didn’t keep her from engaging in one of the more odious traits of the modern left, accusing her opponent Maura Sullivan of being backed by the pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC. These days, supporting Israel for defending itself against terrorist mass murderers has become toxic for Democrats because so many of their voters have swallowed the fiction about a “genocide in Gaza.”

Tuesday, Lonnie G. Bunch III ** announced that he is stepping down** at the end of this year as head of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Bunch said, “It’s time,” and denied that his resignation had anything to do with the intense criticism of the Smithsonian by the Trump White House for presenting history exhibits through a filter of anti-American, anti-white, pro-trans and pro-illegal alien leftism.
Bunch told the Washington Post that this is a time when people are challenging the Smithsonian’s independence, but we would suggest different wording, such as that they are challenging the Smithsonian’s definition of “American history,” the accurate preservation of which is its basic job.
Despite much evidence in recent days of the Smithsonian’s woke propagandizing, Chief Justice John Roberts ** issued a statement praising Bunch** for pursuing “excellence in the telling of our nation’s story” and declaring that the Smithsonian had “benefited greatly from his wisdom, vision and leadership.” We’ll leave it to you to decide whether this tells you more about Bunch or about John Roberts.
The escalation in the conflict with Iran continued Tuesday. After US forces attacked and disabled 10 Iranian oil tankers, Iran retaliated by firing ballistic missiles at US bases in Jordan. CENTCOM said the attack was ineffective and all personnel were accounted for. CENTCOM also said that the oil tankers are part of a multibillion-dollar “shadow network” used to fund the IRGC.
Iran also claimed to have struck two US Navy destroyers. CENTCOM replied on X, “This is completely FALSE. No U.S. Navy warship has been struck; all IRGC attempted attacks failed.”
Because of the continued disruptions in the oil supply, oil prices topped $100 a barrel for the first time in nearly six weeks.
And ** some recommended reading by Victor Davis Hanson**, explaining the current Iran strategy, which has to take into account Trump’s veto of troops on the ground and the populace’s lack of guns for an uprising. It’s fascinating reading, a good rejoinder to the Trump critics who rant that “he has no strategy,” and a warning to Republicans to turn out and vote in November because the rulers of Iran are counting on you not doing that.
