I left legacy media to build something different: independent, honest political analysis with no corporate or partisan agenda.
I call balls and strikes ⚾ — because politics needs referees, not cheerleaders.

Donald Trump is in the midst of a magical mystery tour of the country — stumping anywhere Republican candidates will have him.
With Trump talking (and talking), I am ramping up my efforts to document what he actually says.
While I won’t be able to go line by line through every speech the president gives on the campaign trail between now and November 3, I am going to do my best to sprint through the finish line in my ongoing efforts to make sure you know, dear reader, what the most powerful man in the world is saying (and what it all means).
Earlier this year, I wrote a piece about why I think these “Lines” pieces are a very effective way to cover Trump. You can read that here.
Below I went through Trump’s speech Wednesday night at a rally in Kalispell, Montana — a state, I will note, he won by 20 points in 2024.
I am the only reporter going through Trump’s words forensically every day/week/month. If you value that sort of close examination of what Trump says — as well as fact-checking, context and some humor — I hope you become a paid subscriber today
“And you see all those cars out there. I never saw so many cars, which I won all 3 times, receiving more votes than any presidential or other candidate in Montana political history.”
ME. ME. ME. And away we go!
“And 20 days from now, the people of Montana are going to defeat radical left Democrat Alani Bankhead. Who the hell is that?”
This Trump verbal tic always makes me laugh. He has clearly never heard of Bankead, the Democratic nominee for Senate. And he also has obviously not looked at what is in the teleprompter before he takes the stage. So he’s genuinely shocked/surprised! So good.
“And at the election, I'm asking you, you have to do this. You have to pretend that I'm running, please.”
I think this is a bad message for Republicans, actually.
“And by the way, your governor, Greg, you did a very good speech. I watched you coming in. He's been my friend right from the beginning. Right, Greg? Right from the beginning. Thank you very much.”
The governor of Montana is a guy named Greg Gianforte. You might remember him from the time he body-slammed a reporter.
“And every voter here in Montana and all across the nation needs to know that your Second Amendment, which is under siege, is also totally protected with me and my friends over here that are coming with me to Washington. Totally.”
I haven’t heard a single Democratic ad in any swing state or swing district mention the 2nd Amendment. And it’s nowhere near the top of voters’ minds when it comes to the issues they are voting in in 19 days. Good times. Goooood times.
