There’s a tower of blocks, and each player, in turn, attempts to remove a piece without toppling the entire edifice. Whoever makes it all fall loses, and the winner is left holding a piece, grinning at the collapse that they helped orchestrate with their own hands.
Tragically, Jenga is America, and, specifically, our healthcare infrastructure system. MAGA, corporate sharks, and anti-science freaks are gleefully gutting our resources, experts, and flawed but necessary administrations for the sake of profit and a pro-death ideology.
What happens when an unqualified crank, RFK Jr., becomes the director of our Health and Human Services? The CDC and NIH are purged and replaced with conspiracy theorists, Christian nationalists, and vaccine skeptics. Preventable diseases such as Measles become great again, and people die. What happens when extremists are appointed to head the FDA? Preventable parasites and diseases infect our food and water, and people die.
What happens when one trillion dollars are cut from Medicaid to subsidize permanent tax cuts for the world’s richest people?
We’re about to find.
