Lindsay Clancy’s attorney has asked a judge to investigate the lone juror who refused to acquit, by seeking his phone records and jury questionnaire. His lone vote triggered a mistrial after the other eleven jurors favored acquittal by reason of insanity.
The request has sparked backlash: the juror’s lawyer calls it a threat to jurors’ constitutional rights, while a legal expert notes such probes usually follow convictions, not mistrials. Supporters have raised over $380,000 for the juror online.
**What’s next:**A hearing is set for September 29 on whether the case heads to retrial. The juror, now publicly identified, maintains he had no doubts about his verdict.
Donald Trump visited Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Gracie Mansion, their third meeting but first outside the White House. The pair held a joint news conference where Mamdani requested federal funding on Sunnyside Yard, a proposed 12,000-home Queens project.
