The New York Times examined the backgrounds of lawyers hired by Harmeet Dhillon, who heads the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. She brought in 126 new lawyers after upward of 300 career employees left.
Dhillon said she was overhauling a division that liberals had controlled for too long. Critics say the new voting-related hires help Trump undermine the electoral process.
**The profiles:**James Breslo, a former business lawyer, hosted a podcast covering the Kennedy assassination and Epstein. David Michael Levin hacked a Florida county’s election system in 2015-16 and pleaded to misdemeanors. Eric Neff, who leads the voting section, was suspended as an LA prosecutor over an allegedly botched election case.

Russia’s health regulator says there is no epidemic risk after Darya Shipilova, a researcher at a Siberian plague research institute, died of pneumonia of still unknown origin.
Authorities quarantined about 200 people who may have had contact with her. Official details were scarce, so rumors spread, and Marco Rubio, among others, pressed Russia for more information.
**The update:**Officials say Shipilova was vaccinated against pneumonic plague and the other dangerous pathogens she worked with. They found no traces of those microorganisms in her body, plague included. More than 90% of her contacts have finished medical observation without issues.

🌍 Geography: Australia stretches roughly 4,000 km from east to west, making it wider than the Moon.
🤯 WTF: The most powerful lightning bolt can carry up to 1 billion volts. The sky occasionally rage-quits reality.
