Celebrities and commentators are split over Shane Gillis’s SNL monologue, which included a crude joke about how women dress at the gym. The clip has passed two million YouTube views and reignited arguments over misogyny and cancel culture.
Critics including Dan Levy, former cast member Ego Nwodim and singer Maren Morris pushed back online, and a Vogue essay called the humor lazy. On the other side, a New York Post column and YouTuber Caleb Hammer argued the backlash was overblown.
**The history:**SNL fired Gillis in 2019 over resurfaced anti-Asian slurs, yet he has since returned to host three times. Travis Kelce also drew criticism for liking the clip.
Kimberly Guilfoyle resigned as U.S. ambassador to Greece on Tuesday. Her exit came about an hour after new White House press secretary Katie Zacharia said the administration had asked her to step down.
Wall Street Journal reports allege Guilfoyle sought $100,000 from Trump donor Eric Deters and accepted luxury travel from Greek business figures. Guilfoyle calls the allegations false, and a State Department watchdog is investigating.
**The briefing:**Zacharia’s debut lasted about 14 minutes, with questions from three reporters at conservative outlets. Trump called her performance excellent. Critics questioned her credentials after journalist Judd Legum reported finding no record of her bar admission.

Judge Ana Reyes ordered a stop to tree removal at a public golf course in Washington, D.C., after crews cut down more than 400 trees over the weekend. She had told the administration to notify the court before removing any.
President Trump wants to renovate the course to host professional tournaments, while preservationists sued to protect its older trees. A government lawyer said officials did their best to give notice, but Reyes said no one called or emailed the court.
**The fallout:**Park Service officials testified the plans were approved Oct. 5, with 230 more trees slated for removal. Reyes said the Trump administration has lost credibility with the court.
