Protests in France grew into the country’s largest unrest in years over the weekend, with more than half a million people marching Saturday. Nearly 2,400 people were arrested.
The movement began in September as student protests over crowded classrooms and teacher shortages, then grew to include the cost of living. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu blamed the far-left France Unbowed party, while its leader, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, blamed Lecornu’s government.
**The response:**Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez offered to resign, saying police weren’t prepared, but President Emmanuel Macron refused. Lecornu called for local curfews, and Macron banned gatherings in some areas.
Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed went viral after a town hall attendee named Tommy asked him to disavow the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed agreed, then asked whether the question assumed divided loyalties, citing his oath to the Constitution.
The question stems from a Washington Free Beacon report on posts by El-Sayed’s half-sister about their mother’s alleged 1970s ties to the group. El-Sayed denies any ties, while opponent Mike Rogers and Sen. Ted Cruz have accused him of refusing to disavow it.
**The questioner:**The Handbasket identified him as Thomas Teepell, a former operations director for Sen. Josh Hawley. The Michigan Daily reported a conservative PAC offered College Republicans $200 to disrupt El-Sayed’s events.

Today’s Poll:Town Hall TacticsThe viral exchange at Abdul El-Sayed’s town hall, and reports that the questioner had ties to Republican politics, have prompted discussion about coordinated questions at campaign events and what they mean for voters.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the season after doctors found blood clots in his lungs. He was first diagnosed with a superficial clot in his left calf on Oct. 10.
Reports say he was advised not to sleep, so he stayed awake 36 hours before playing the Jaguars in Week 5. Some fans and commentators have called for an investigation into the team’s medical staff. The Eagles and Hurts’ agent issued a statement saying they expect a full recovery.
**The season:**The Eagles have lost four straight and are 2-4. Right tackle Lane Johnson retired, and Saquon Barkley has missed two weeks with a hamstring injury. Tanner McKee steps in for Hurts.

🥏Toys: The Frisbee is named after a Connecticut bakery. College students tossed Frisbie Pie Company tins and yelled "Frisbie!" as a warning. Dessert first, cardio second.
🤯 WTF: Iceland had no recorded wild mosquitoes until last October. An amateur bug hunter found three near Reykjavik on ropes soaked in wine to attract moths. Even mosquitoes can't resist a free drink.

On October 19, 1967, Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin captured about a minute of footage at Bluff Creek, California, showing a large, hairy figure walking upright and glancing back at the camera. The Patterson-Gimlin film became one of the most analyzed and argued-over clips in history. People still debate whether it shows a real creature or a person in a costume.
