A viral video shows Donna Arthur, the estranged mother of Ohio Democratic governor candidate Amy Acton, calling her daughter a liar and urging people not to vote for her. It’s unclear who made the video, which first surfaced on Ohio blogger D.J. Byrnes’ Substack.
Acton and her brother, Phil Stearns, have long described neglect and abuse in their mother’s care, including abuse by her then-husband, who was charged in 1978 but fled Ohio and was never convicted. Arthur has disputed their account since 2020.
**The campaign:**Acton’s campaign blamed Republican opponent Vivek Ramaswamy. His campaign hasn’t said whether it made the video, but a spokesperson said Acton has problems with the truth.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is reportedly holding up Patriot air defense missiles for Ukraine, including some owned by U.S. allies. Officials say he has neither approved nor rejected the transfers.
The delay comes as President Trump blames Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for prolonging the war and for strikes on Russian diesel supplies. Patriots are also scarce: each costs about $4 million, and the Iran war has drained stockpiles.
**The fallout:**Zelensky says Ukraine has stopped receiving U.S. warnings about incoming Russian strikes. Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied reports that U.S. officials threatened to cut off intelligence. Trump also backed out of new, congressionally passed sanctions on Russian oil and gas days before they took effect.

Jaime West, the Democratic candidate for a Fayette County Council seat in Indiana, went viral after saying at a local TV forum that she would fire all Republicans and doesn’t like them. On Piers Morgan’s show, she admitted to having three beers beforehand but stood by her comments.
Some viewers praised her bluntness, while some local voters told reporters she rambled and seemed off. West says many people are excited to vote for her.
**The twist:**West’s partner of about 14 years is a Republican, though she says they don’t discuss politics. Early voting has started in the county, where 77.5% of voters backed Trump in 2024.
