Streamer Hasan Piker is suing CNN commentator Scott Jennings for defamation, seeking $72.5 million. The suit centers on an Aug. 11 segment on Jennings’ own show that aired an edited National Republican Senatorial Committee video suggesting Piker supported lynching.
Piker’s complaint says the clips cut out context showing he was mocking others, and Snopes called the video highly misleading. Jennings didn’t create the edit, which could matter legally: as a public figure, Piker must prove Jennings knew the claims were false or recklessly ignored the truth.
**The response:**Piker’s lawyers say Jennings never answered their retraction demand, and his posts remain up. Sen. Ted Cruz has since shared the video, and Piker hinted he could be next.

Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost Brazil’s presidential election to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and hasn’t conceded, is in Miami, and he and his family have reportedly received U.S. visas. He left after missing a court deadline to surrender his passports amid investigations into alleged tax evasion, corruption and money laundering.
Bolsonaro had called the passport order an attempt to intimidate him. Lula called his departure shameful, and Brazilian officials warned he could face extradition if convicted.
**The diplomacy:**President Trump said he’d approve of Bolsonaro coming to the U.S. and questioned the election results. A Brazilian judge also ordered an investigation into whether a donor network co-founded by Vice President JD Vance helped Bolsonaro’s campaign.

At a Michigan rally for Senate candidate Mike Rogers, HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Arabs don’t produce science or literature or win major prizes, blaming the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood. He also repeated claims tying Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed to the group, which El-Sayed has denied.
Critics pointed to Arab Nobel winners, including last year’s chemistry laureate. The Council on American-Islamic Relations called the remarks bigoted and said they disqualify him from office.
**The race:**Polls show a tight Michigan Senate contest that could help decide control of the Senate. Kennedy hasn’t commented on the backlash.
