The Michigan Democratic Party expelled Rep. Haley Stevens after she endorsed Republican Mike Rogers for Senate two days before the election. Stevens, who lost the primary to Abdul El-Sayed, appeared with Rogers at a church on Sunday.
Her chief of staff and several staffers resigned. Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi criticized the move, and some of Stevens’ friends raised concerns about her fiancé’s influence.
The numbers: El-Sayed reportedly raised $1.2 million in four hours afterward. A New York Times/Siena poll shows him leading Rogers by 11 points.
U.S.-Iran talks brokered by Qatar and Pakistan have yet to produce a breakthrough, and Iran says the next move is Washington’s. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said President Trump wants to end the war diplomatically, while Tucker Carlson claimed Trump is weighing a nuclear strike.
Vice President JD Vance recently offered Iran sanctions relief for nuclear commitments. Trump says the war will end soon, by a deal or otherwise, but he’s in no hurry to strike.
**The claim:**Carlson wrote that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is urging a nuclear strike on Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain site. The post drew about 70 million views, with Laura Loomer calling it a hoax and Alex Jones backing Carlson. Carlson’s nuclear-strike allegation has not been independently verified. Trump previously said he would not use nuclear weapons against Iran.

Today’s Poll:Visa VerdictU.S. officials are signaling openness to a deal with Iran while keeping military options on the table, and a viral post claiming a nuclear strike is under consideration has added to the uncertainty.
Where do you think the U.S.-Iran conflict is headed in the next few weeks?
A private jet headed from Texas to the Bahamas crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, killing all nine people on board. The crew had requested a higher altitude after hitting turbulence and light ice.
The jet then fell as fast as 30,000 feet per minute, far past its limits. Gov. Ron DeSantis described the crash as cataclysmic.
**On the ground:**Flames reached nearby homes, and investigators said a person in a nearby vehicle sustained a leg injury. About 600 residents evacuated, and some say they still can’t get back inside to collect belongings.
🗣️** Language**: The word “candidate” comes from the Latin for “clothed in white,” because Roman office seekers wore bright white togas. Campaign merch, ancient edition.
📜 History: To win a seat in Virginia’s House of Burgesses in 1758, George Washington’s campaign served voters about 160 gallons of alcohol. Open bar, open polls.
🚀 Space: In 1997, astronaut David Wolf cast a Texas ballot from the Mir space station, making him the first American to vote from space. Longest commute to the polls.
🤯 WTF: In 1959, a zoo rhinoceros named Cacareco drew about 100,000 votes for São Paulo’s city council, outpolling every human candidate. Thick skin, perfect for politics.
TODAY’S QUIZ ANSWER:
Washington, D.C.
D.C. residents last voted for president in 1800, before Congress took control of the new capital and ended their voting rights in 1801. The 23rd Amendment, ratified in 1961, restored that right, giving the District as many electors as the least populous state. In 1964, D.C. voters helped Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson defeat Republican Barry Goldwater, and the District still has three electoral votes today, the same as Wyoming.
