I recently held a retreat at Mandali centre in northern Italy, titled ‘Meister Eckhart and the Love of God’. During the retreat, we explored some of Eckhart’s most profound writings on the nature of being, love, and the soul’s return to its source. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing a series of meditations drawn from those contemplations, each one lightly edited for clarity and flow.
This is the first in the series. In it, we do not seek to progress towards God, nor do we aim to unite with something outside ourselves. Rather, we sink into the infinite stillness of being, surrendering every layer of experience, until all that remains is unlimited being – God’s being – shining in us, as us, as our very own self.
