This dialogue explores a fundamental assumption that underlies ordinary experience, namely, that there is a physical world existing independently of awareness.
Rather than approaching the question conceptually, the enquiry begins with a simple, direct experiment, examining a single sensation without reference to memory, language, or prior knowledge. What initially seems to be an experience of a solid object is revealed, on closer inspection, to be a pattern of sensation, without inherent size, shape, weight or location.
By comparing this sensation with thoughts and sounds, it becomes clear that all experience appears in the same field of awareness. No boundary can be found between awareness and what is assumed to exist outside it.
As the exploration widens to include all experience, past and present, a deeper insight emerges: nothing has ever been experienced outside awareness. The belief in a world made of matter, existing independently of it, is recognised as an assumption imposed upon experience rather than something derived from it.
What begins as a question about the nature of the physical world becomes an invitation to reconsider the very foundation upon which that world is understood.
