THE LIONESS LEDGER
Happy Sunday! Well, the cat distribution system works in mysterious ways. Meet Sheldon! My husband found him at a Shell gas station. Yep, a Shell station just curled up by the gas pump, screaming at him. So…he brought him home.

Happy Sunday!
Well, the cat distribution system works in mysterious ways.
Meet Sheldon!
My husband found him at a Shell gas station. Yep, a Shell station just curled up by the gas pump, screaming at him. So…he brought him home. And yes, his name is officially Sheldon. I don’t know how these things happen, but apparently that’s how we’re acquiring cats now.
Orange cats have always been my favorite, so I’m not exactly complaining. I have a feeling Sheldon is going to fit right in. Whether he knows what he’s gotten himself into is another question entirely.
I’m a history activist on a mission to document the Jewish story before it’s rewritten or erased. Your paid subscription funds this deep daily research and unlocks every daily briefing, tracking report, and archive.
We also managed to sneak away for a quick weekend getaway, which was very much needed. I’ve been spending so much time buried in investigations lately that getting away from my computer for a bit was probably good for everyone involved. Including my computer.
On a more serious note, I’ve been thinking about everyone affected by the earthquakes and hurricanes over the past several days. Seeing families lose their homes, communities dealing with the aftermath, and people trying to figure out what comes next is heartbreaking. I hope everyone in the affected areas is safe, has somewhere to turn, and gets the help they need.
As for this week at The Lioness Writes, we covered **quite **a bit of ground. There were investigations into foreign influence, education, Jewish property, and the digital rewriting of history. We also marked three years since October 7, and I finally gave myself a little brain break with today’s article about making Aliyah.
No, I’m not moving to Israel. I was curious. And now I know considerably more about Israeli real estate than I ever expected to.
Anyway, I hope you’ve had a wonderful week and an even better weekend.
Let’s get into it.
New around here? Welcome!
This is a good place to begin. It covers some of the Jewish and Israeli history that keeps getting left out of conversations and connects you to quite a few of my other articles.
There’s plenty to explore, and I’m glad you’re here.
Well, this was exciting!
I was a guest on David Harris Jr.’s The Pulse on Newsmax this week, talking about mosque development in American communities and some of the research I’ve been doing.
It’s one thing to spend hours digging through documents and writing about what you find. It’s another to have the opportunity to discuss that work with an entirely different audience. It’s my first ever major network chat and I was SO NERVOUS.
If you missed it, here’s the clip:
Oh, I can’t forget the chat my friend and I had that he transcribed into two articles! It’s great. He’s great. If you’re not following or subscribed to him, please check out his Substack called Love Matza
I spend a lot of time in Notes between articles. Sometimes it’s a piece of history, sometimes breaking news, sometimes something that makes me laugh, and sometimes something that sends me off on another investigation I absolutely did not have time to start.
Here are a couple from this week:
I’m still looking forward to this trip, and there are a few spots left if you’ve been thinking about joining us!
We’re planning a group trip to Israel in June 2027 with travel advisor Carla Black of Fora Travel, who is handling the arrangements. I’ve never been to Israel, so this is going to be a pretty emotional trip for me. I’ve spent so much time reading, researching, THINKING, and writing about the country…I’m looking forward to finally experiencing it in person.
I’d love to have some of you join us!

The Lioness Writes is my full-time work, and the investigations have become a much bigger part of it. Some of these stories take weeks to research, and I’m committed to following them wherever the records lead.
Paid subscriptions allow me to devote that time to the work while keeping the publication independent. You’ll still find free articles and daily Notes here, but the deeper investigations will increasingly be reserved for paid subscribers.
For $75 a year — about 21¢ a day — you get full access to everything I publish.
Become a paid subscriber — $75/year.
Not ready for another subscription? I understand. You can always ** buy me a coffee** instead. A one-time contribution is appreciated, and there’s no subscription commitment.
And to everyone who reads, comments, shares my work, or sends me a message, thank you. I know I don’t always respond, and I apologize for that. I hear from a lot of people every day, and as much as I’d love to answer everyone, sometimes I just can’t keep up. But I do read your messages, and I really do try.
Today is my last day of vacation, so I’m going to enjoy what’s left of it before I’m back at my desk Monday morning. There are plenty of investigations waiting for me, and I have a feeling it’s going to be another busy week.
Thank you for being here, and have a wonderful Sunday!
Melissa ❤️
