Even when your life is going well, there can be a feeling that something is missing. It may be faint, it can go on for years, and quite often it takes the form of a longing for God or a search for enlightenment, which you might not think of as a feeling at all. Whatever form it takes, it appears in the same open space of awareness as every other feeling you have ever had.
The Presence of Awareness
Be, knowingly, the presence of awareness.
Space-like, in the sense that you, awareness, contain all experience within your self. You are the field, the medium within which all experience appears.
Luminous, because you, awareness, are the illuminating or knowing factor in all experience. Just as the sun’s light renders the world visible, it is your light, the light of pure knowing, that renders experience knowable.
Empty, because you, awareness, are inherently empty of the content of experience, although, in your own experience of your self, you are full of your self alone. Empty in relation to objects; full in relation to your self. And it is this inherent fullness that you experience as happiness.
