Trump doesn’t care about his latest 29% approval rating because he doesn’t plan on leaving peacefully or legally. Authoritarians around the world realize the majority is waking up, so they’ll go on in stealing our resources and crushing dissent.

Despite historically low approval ratings, the political ruling class remains completely unbothered by public backlash. The reason is simple: when money controls both sides of the aisle, elections cease to threaten those in power. What we are witnessing is not a temporary political slump, but the systematic consolidation of media, capital, and governance into a unified apparatus designed to render public sentiment irrelevant.
When Donald Trump’s approval rating dropped to 29%—with a staggering 68% disapproval—it marked a historic collapse in public support. Outside of Richard Nixon’s 25% post-Watergate nadir, no modern president has reached such lows. For this number to be possible, the discontent cannot be isolated to independents or swing voters; it means the core base is fracturing.
In a functioning democracy, a 29% approval rating weeks before a midterm election would trigger immediate course corrections. Policies would be adjusted, tone would shift, and alarm bells would ring throughout the party. Yet, the administration moves forward without hesitation, gutting regulations, ignoring economic hardship, and doubling down on unpopular agendas.
They do not care about voters’ sentiments because they no longer believe voter sentiment dictates who holds power. Whether through electoral disruption, legal maneuvering, or long-term structural capture, the traditional feedback loops of democratic accountability have been severed.
This indifference is not accidental; it is the realization of a long-term strategy. For decades, figures within the techno-oligarchy have openly posited that when capitalism and democracy come into conflict, democracy must be set aside.
The vision replacing it is not traditional conservatism, but a form of corporate feudalism managed by tech lords and wealth funds. Under this framework, national borders and democratic institutions are secondary to global resource division. The goal is to carve up industries, infrastructure, media, and wealth, placing them under the management of an unassailable class of oligarchs.

When power is concentrated to this degree, individual political figures become interchangeable. The control spans across party lines, ensuring that regardless of who holds office, the underlying structure remains undisturbed.
The belief that the opposition party offers a safeguard against this consolidation ignores the financial reality of modern politics. When both political parties rely on the same network of mega-donors, the outcome is functionally unified.
Consider the recent regulatory approvals surrounding massive media mergers, such as Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Despite antitrust concerns and warnings regarding foreign entity stakes, key state officials and party leaders—including California Governor Gavin Newsom—exerted pressure to ensure the deal progressed. The justification is routinely framed around protecting local business interests, but the result is further concentration of corporate power.
Prominent figures within the establishment frequently platform right-wing extremists while marginalizing progressive or independent voices. By catering to the same donor class, the political establishment guarantees that true structural reform is never placed on the ballot.
The ongoing wave of media consolidation poses an existential threat to an informed public. When news networks, major film studios, streaming platforms, and social media networks are bought up by a handful of interconnected billionaires, the public sphere collapses into a single echo chamber.
This dynamic is already visible across local television, where corporate conglomerates mandate uniform, pre-scripted political messaging across hundreds of local stations simultaneously. As national networks undergo similar acquisitions, critical investigative journalism is systematically replaced by corporate-friendly commentary.
When narrative control is total, dissent is starved of reach. Independent outlets are priced out or bought up, while voices that challenge the prevailing economic order are pushed to the margins.
The ultimate tragedy of this political era is not just the aggressive push from the right, but the total surrender of the broader political apparatus. Rather than organizing a coherent strategy to protect democratic institutions or challenge corporate monopolies, many political actors have chosen to profit from the decline.
Ethics regulations are bypassed, public offices are leveraged for personal enrichment, and regulatory oversight is dismantled from within. When the institutions meant to serve the public are turned into engines for private wealth extraction, the system ceases to function as a republic in anything but name.
Democracy cannot survive as a spectator sport. Relying on political elites to voluntarily relinquish power or challenge their own funders is a proven dead end. The only force capable of disrupting this trajectory is an organized, informed populace that recognizes the illusion for what it is and builds independent structures of power outside the controlled corporate ecosystem.
