This cartoon took longer to create than it might appear. I initially wanted to have the largest domino looming over “mankind,” which required a ground-level perspective. But then the circular nature of the dominoes might have been lost. In the end, I decided to draw it from above, I used an ellipse tool in Procreate (an iPad app) to give myself a rough guide for a circular arrangement. I probably spent 20 minutes drawing and redrawing, trying to decide which perspective would be most effective. The time involved isn’t captured in these 30-second videos and make the process seem a lot easier.

Near the end, I was experimenting with adding some color to the ground. You might notice a brief flash of color near the end. I went back and forth, but ultimately decided that the dominoes jumped off the screen better with a white background.
