Translating Legalese into English
Morning friends, can we start with something a little on the lighter side today?

Morning friends, can we start with something a little on the lighter side today?
Morning friends, can we start with something a little on the lighter side today? As I mentioned during last night's Community Meeting, I’ll be jumping on live at 2:30 pm ET today with independent journalist extraordinaire and justice warrior @Katie Phang to discuss her new lawsuit against acting Attorney General Todd Blanche for DOJ’s countless and endless violations of the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
As I also mentioned yesterday evening, I've been fortunate too be on air with Katie many times over the years.
Here's a bit is a pictorial history: in the green room at 30 Rock waiting to go on air; on set with Katie over the years; and that MSNBC experiment I mentioned last night when they let four legal analysts spend a full hour, sans host/anchor, discussing the legal issues of the day.
I used to push MSNBC all the time to consider doing a dedicated one-hour show each week (or even better, each day), discussing, analyzing, and explaining the legal issues of the day. Trump and company’s endless stream of destructive propaganda needed to be addressed, at length, every day to try to help the viewers keep up with the Orwellian hellscape that defines Trump's executive branch. Put another way, the rule of law is one of the few things that can save our republic, and it's too important to be relegated to occasional, six-minute segments.
I finally managed to convince MSNBC to give it a go, and Katie, Danny Cevallos, Cynthia Alksne, and myself got to spend one hour on air doing a deep dive into the legal issues of the day. I thought it was an important experiment, and I know we all enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, it failed to get traction among MSNBC leadership. We couldn't quite convince the “suits” that it should be part of their regular programming.
But guess what? We now spend all day, every day right here on independent media - straight to you without corporate sponsorship or editorial interference - discussing the legal issues of the day, combatting Trump's propaganda, focusing on what's really important, and translating it all from legalese into English.
Hope to see you all at 2:30 pm ET.
