Progressive organizer Corbin Trent is like Blade, the Daywalker. He has all the strengths and none of the weaknesses when he appears on Sean Hannity’s show and enters the lion’s den that is right-wing media propaganda.
You see, he is a “real” American. He’s a white man from Tennessee with a distinct Southern accent, and he can pass as one of the “good ol’ boys.” As such, when some MAGA voters first hear or see him, they let their guard down and become more receptive to his talking points versus a radical, extremist, Marxist, atheist, Muslim, scary brown man like myself.
Trent is using his superpower for good, spending the week debating every Fox, Newsmax, and NewsNation host that will invite him. He’s making an aggressive case for bold economic reforms that most Americans actually support. Also, Trump and Republicans, such as Ken Paxton, are doing Fox hosts zero favors with their avalanche of scandals and failed policies resulting in higher gas and grocery prices, a failed war, and an Epstein cover-up.
The millions being dumped in competitive races aren’t working anymore. People are fed up and are desperately seeking change that will materially improve their lives *now. *
Unfortunately, over on the Democrats’ side, many consultants and establishment voices refuse to meet the moment. They are running a grand experiment, hoping that center-left, white men offering some economic reform will be enough to take back power. They prefer these candidates to Angie Nixon in Florida or El-Sayed in Michigan.
However, they’re forgetting that the South and Midwest have long elected Democrats. (Al Gore came from Tennessee. Clinton was from Arkansas.) These states have a voter base that is begging for a living wage, affordable prices, and a chance to achieve what barely remains of the American dream.
Milquetoast centrism won’t cut it.
