S. Department of State urged Ethiopia and Eritrea to exercise maximum restraint and to return to dialogue under their 2018 peace framework. S. Department of State Spokesman Thomas “Tommy” Pigott said increasing cross-border tensions between the two countries have the potential to affect the entire region, and that the Horn of Africa cannot sustain another military conflict and humanitarian crisis.
